Application of simulated annealing algorithm for multi criteria operation planning in flexible manufacturing systems

In this paper, a multi objective model in which operation planning and tool assignment flexible manufacturing system (FMS) has been considered simultaneously. regard, the main characteristics of FMS have analyzed. Then, comprehensive model, including major parameters cost components designed presented. The proposed contains factors machining cost, earliness tardiness penalties, part movement or switch costs idle time tools machines. multi-objective for problem proposed, relative importance each through weighting these based on decision making goals sum mentioned Based complex nature problem, standard solution techniques not employed. Therefore, to reduce computational times, simulated annealing (SA) algorithm used about 30 minutes (10,000 movements). total production decreased from 7,000 4333 units using SA algorithm. results, 38% reduction achieved. Computational results revealed that method is quite efficient optimization within short time.
